About Black Sand Designs and Jewelry Designer Irene Woo
Jewelry That Celebrates Your Effortless Elegance

- You’re a curious soul (because, honestly, life would be way too boring otherwise).
- You love the unique over the trendy (who has time to keep up with fads, anyway?).
- You see jewelry as part of your story (yes, yes, and
yes!). - You have a thing for understated, down-to-earth elegance (virtual high-five!).
Well, guess what? Black Sand Designs was made just for you!
From Electrical Engineer to Jewelry Designer (Yep, Really!)
Here’s a little secret: I didn’t start out as a jewelry designer. I was deep in the world of circuits and engineering when a coworker invited me to a home jewelry party. And let’s just say... I had a lightbulb moment. 💡
I thought, Irene, you could totally make jewelry that’s even more beautiful and unique than this! So, I did!
I’ve always been a maker at heart, drawn to structure, form, and creativity. Working with metal felt like a natural transition—like engineering, but way more sparkly!
I have a soft spot for non-traditional gemstones, with all their beauty and imperfections. (Because let’s be real-- it makes things more interesting.) My designs reflect that: simple, organic, elegant, and never overpowering.
"Jewelry should accentuate, not dominate, your style."

Always Learning, Always Growing
What started as a self-taught passion quickly turned into an ongoing journey of mastering my craft. I’ve spent countless hours refining my skills, learning from incredible metalsmiths, and pushing myself to new creative heights. Because when you love what you do, the learning never stops!
Thanks for being here—let’s celebrate your one-of-a-kind style together!
